A number of birds from the Canyon Lake area have visited since we placed a bird seed feeder in the yard. When the South Texas Polar Storm hit us a week later, the feeder became an important source of food for the avian community, which experienced 6″ of snow over a week of temps 40 degrees below average. We’re happy to have helped out the local wildlife, while enjoying their colorful antics.
Weather finally improved over the last week in Central Texas, and that means “The Boy” is up and flying, working on his private pilot license. I often take my “good” camera to the airfield because you never know what sort of activity you will capture.
Here are some of the highlights:

Civil Air Patrol Cessna 182T at KHYI (San Marcos, TX)

Each morning that I get up and check the camera, there is a lot of dew upon it, including the lens. It has a small built in cover but it’s not enough to keep it from getting clouded.
Last night around 2:00 AM we had what looks like you coyote visitor again… but.. as you can see, the blur is from the water collected on the face of the lens housing.
Video is the same story. Little 10 second clip shows the animal strolling off. Definitely some sort of canine.
I think the next step is to look for a small birdhouse, and use that to possibly house the camera and keep the dew from forming on the lens. When it was positioned under an overhang, the dew didn’t seem to be an issue. That is my though process regardless.
Below are photographs of the Air Force’s latest superiority fighter, the F-22 Raptor. In addition, there are also photos of the USAF Heritage Fly-by with the F-22 and P-51 Mustang in tight formation.

Wow, what a great morning for exotic cars! The variety was fantastic, from 1960’s vintage GT40 to the latest from McLaren, the 650S!! And plenty of heavy metal in between (including an epic MBZ SLS Black, in red).
Here is a gallery of the pics… ENJOY!!
Thanks to the organizers, especially Benoit Boningue, fellow car club member and just plane cool dude.
Day -1 at the U.S. Red Bull MotoGP in Monterey CA was quiet, but attended more heavily than expected. The day before the official start of the event is always interesting.
I meet the vendors while they are setting up, and for those that are already selling, I start relationship building with them. This always pays off in many ways, not the least of which is simply meeting new people, and often old “friends” from events past.
Here are some photos of the wanderings around we did on Day -1.
It was an ugly, ugly morning in Santa Cruz.
Following almost a week of non-stop unsettled weather, Mother Nature decided to give us a little reminder of how insignificant and inconsequential we are in the grand scheme of things.
Obviously, this is nothing like the horrid disaster of Hurricane Sandy, but and angry sea, is, an angry see.
Here are some photos takes along West Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz on the 2nd of December. The sunlight was a horrible blue from the deep clouds and reflection out of the ocean. I did the best I could do on the color correction:
Having just returned from the smoggy skies and urban jungle of L.A., a walk to the beach was mandatory for the last day of a nice long weekend.
Here are some photos from that walk.
Granted, it’s been a couple of weeks since the pros packed up and headed off to Pipeline for the last event on their years tour. I’m not always the quickest to get photos uploaded, with clients to service, mouths to feed, cars and bikes to work on and in there somewhere I try to have a little fun for myself.
So this morning I’m pulling up some pics from a few weeks ago that I’ve wanted to post up. One of these days I’ll get my watermarking done, but for now.. I’ll just have to trust that nobody finds these compelling enough to steal (here’s hoping).
